How To Reach Golden Temple Amritsar

India is very famous for its magnificent ancient temples. These temples are a place of worship for millions of devotees. Apart from this, there are many golden temples in India that attracts every devotee as well as tourist. One of them is a golden temple of Amritsar.

This holy temple is located in the city of Amritsar in the Indian state of Punjab. Amritsar is located at a distance of 1800 Km away from Mumbai, 450 Km from Delhi, 230 Km from Chandigarh, and 300 Km from Shimla.

The name of this temple is Harmandir Sahib but it is very famous by the name of Golden Temple. It is situated in the middle of the sacred lake.

How To Reach:

By Road:

You will get the no. of buses from major cities like Delhi, Dharmshala, Simla, and Chandigarh to reach Amritsar. But if you are going to Amritsar from cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, then it would be better to go by train instead of road.

Due to the long distance from this cities to Amritsar, your journey can be a bit difficult.

By Train:

You have to catch the train to Amritsar Junction. Amritsar Junction is the nearest railway station to golden temple. It is located at a distance of 2 Km away from this shrine. From station about 10-15 min. of a walking distance you will reach to your destination. Otherwise you can take a rickshaw from station.

If you are coming from Mumbai, you can get several trains from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (C.S.T.M.) to Amritsar. Train No.12903 (Golden Temple Mail) runs daily from Mumbai to Amritsar junction. The train 12903 departs from Mumbai at 9:30 pm and reach Amritsar at 5:30 am. It takes about 32-34 hours to cover distance from Mumbai to Amritsar.

If you are coming from Delhi, train no.02925 runs daily from New Delhi to Amritsar junction. The train 02925 (Paschim Express) departs from New Delhi at 11:05 Am and reach Amritsar junction at 8:05 Pm. It takes about 9-10 hours to cover distance from New Delhi to Amritsar.

By Air: 

Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport is the nearest airport to Amritsar. It is located at a distance of 10 Km away from Amritsar. From airport you can take a cab to reach your destination.

Best Time To Visit:

There is no set time to visit this temple. You can come here in all three seasons. As we all know there is no specific time to visit the holy places. Throughout the year, you will find huge crowd of devotees at this place. But if you want to visit tourists places like Shimla, Manali, along with visiting this holy place, you can come here in  winter season to experience the beautiful scenery  of nature.
